HCMP Names Two New Principals in Public Finance and Business

Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson P.S. has announced that public finance and business attorneys Brandon Pond and Matthew Weger have been appointed principals of the firm.

“Brandon and Matt bring a high level of experience and insight to our public finance, corporate, real estate and tax practices,” said Laurie Lootens Chyz, HCMP’s managing principal. “They represent the future of these practices, and our clients are well served by their counsel.”

Brandon’s practice focuses on public finance and municipal securities law. He has extensive experience serving as bond, disclosure and underwriter's counsel for a wide variety of tax-exempt and taxable financings, particularly in the fields of government and nonprofit health care financing. He also routinely represents nonprofit borrowers in conduit financings with state agencies like the Washington State Housing Finance Commission and Washington Higher Education Facilities Authority. Brandon advises issuers, underwriters and banks on compliance with SEC securities laws and MSRB rulemakings affecting the municipal securities market.

He is active in National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL), serving as Vice Chair of the Disclosure Law & Securities committee. Brandon received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, magna cum laude and B.A. from the University of Utah, magna cum laude.

Matt’s practice includes a variety of aspects of corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial lending and business planning. He has experience with a wide range of transactions involving the technology, industrial and real estate sectors. Prior to joining HCMP, Matt worked in the corporate group of an international law firm in New York City.

He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, Order of the Coif and B.A. from The College of William and Mary, cum laude.
