  • HCMP Attorneys Help Creators of Children's Books Prevail in Copyright Infringement Suit

    Chara Curtis, Cynthia Aldrich, and Alfred Currier are the author and artists of inspirational children's books Fun Is a Feeling, How Far to Heaven?, and All I See Is Part of Me. When the publisher of the books stopped paying royalties but continued publishing the books, Curtis sought help from the Washington Lawyers for the Arts. After several demands on the publisher, Curtis, Aldrich, and Currier terminated their publishing contracts, but the publisher continued to publish their books. read more

  • HCMP Principal Steven R. Rovig Inducted as President of the King County Bar Association

    Steve Rovig, a highly-regarded Seattle real estate transactional attorney, was inducted by the King County Bar Association (KCBA) as its 2014-2015 President at last night's annual KCBA Awards ceremony. Steve is a long-time member of the KCBA, first joining in 1984, and his leadership includes terms as Second Vice President and First Vice President (2012-2014) and Treasurer (2009-2011), a term as King County Bar Foundation President (2001-2002), and service on numerous committees and task forces, including as chair of the Finance Committee, Community Legal Services Committee, and the Future of the Law Institute Task Force. read more

  • HCMP Annual First-Year Diversity Student Fellowship Grantee Announced

    Sarah Fries, a law student at the University of Michigan Law School, has been awarded the HCMP First-Year Diversity Student Fellowship and starts working with the firm as a summer associate this week. The Fellowship includes a salaried summer associate position following the first year of law school, and a stipend to defray tuition and expenses during the student's second academic year. First-year students who contribute to the diversity of their law school and the diversity of the legal profession, and are in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school are considered for this position. read more
