On Saturday, January 25th, HCMP received the first-ever Corporate Leadership Award at the Community for Youth’s annual Aspire Gala. The Community for Youth (CfY), an organization focusing on the mentoring of at-risk youth, hosted the event to celebrate its 35th anniversary. HCMP managing principal Ryan Durkan attended as a guest of Sue Van Haren, widow to the late HCMP partner George Kresovich. Mrs. Van Haren and Mr. Kresovich were two of the original founders of CfY.

At this year’s Aspire Gala, CfY acknowledged businesses that have been significant supporters of their organization. HCMP is a proud supporter, hosting CfY’s first-ever board meeting in one of the law firm’s own conference rooms. HCMP’s support helped to add to the credibility of the organization and with its successful recruitment of quality board members and mentors. Today, CfY continues to help students build confidence, determination, and self-awareness through the support of highly trained and committed mentors from local organizations like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Starbucks.

This year, CfY established an annual award for businesses in the Seattle community who make those significant contributions. Given that HCMP was the first business to provide that support, the Firm is honored to be the first recipient of this award. Funds raised at this year’s Aspire Gala auction help support the CfY’s mission of inspiring and supporting students to be their best selves through mentoring, learning experiences, and a powerful community.
