February 03, 2015  By HCMP Law Offices

Jack Johnson and Matthew Weger have joined HCMP – Johnson as Of Counsel and Weger as an Associate.

Johnson advises leaders of governmental agencies – and their private sector business partners – on transactions, cooperative projects, and major policy initiatives, helping clients to achieve their program goals in compliance with complex statutory and regulatory requirements. Over the past three decades, he has advised and represented three of the region’s largest public agencies: the University of Washington, King County, and the City of Seattle. As Chief Counsel for the University of Washington, he was immersed in legal issues as diverse as the activities of this large public university—ranging from federal and state health care to NCAA athletic compliance, and from academic misconduct to technology development. Johnson has helped shape innovative public-private projects, including the King County Aquatic Center, Benaroya Hall, and the Center for Pediatric Dentistry. He has also worked out cooperative agreements involving a variety of complex entities, such as Airlift Northwest, the UW Alumni Association, and Friends of KEXP. Johnson has extensive experience with the laws and regulations governing public entities, including those related to public records, public meetings, government contracts, ethics, and personnel, and has provided training across those subjects.

Weger’s practice focuses on a variety of aspects of corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial lending and business planning. He has experience with a wide range of transactions involving the technology, industrial and real estate sectors. Prior to joining HCMP, Weger worked in the corporate group of an international law firm in New York City. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, Order of the Coif and B.A. from The College of William and Mary, cum laude.
