HCMP's Ryan Durkan Honored with Washington Law Review's Distinguished Alumni Award

April 30, 2015  By HCMP Law Offices

T. Ryan Durkan, chair of Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson’s Real Estate & Land Use group, has been recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of Washington School of Law’s Washington Law Review. Created in 1979, this award recognizes alumni who demonstrate a record of civic, professional, and community service.

Ryan will be honored at a banquet tonight along with her sister Jenny A. Durkan, former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington, the Honorable Robert S. Lasnik, and UW Assistant Professor of Law Lisa Marshall Manheim. Ryan’s volunteer work in furtherance of education, including her service on Washington State University’s Board of Regents, was the basis for the award.

Ryan’s practice focuses on environmental and land use law, with an emphasis on land development and permitting. She was raised in a political family, an experience that gave her a valuable understanding of both the substance of the law and the political framework within which decisions are made. Ryan applies her expertise to develop and execute strategies to successfully assist clients in reaching their goals.

Since becoming the first law review to publish in the Pacific Northwest, Washington Law Review has been dedicated to promoting and publishing legal scholarship of regional and national interest. This year, the Review is celebrating 90 years of thought-provoking service by taking time to reflect on the past, while continuing to contribute to important social and doctrinal conversations. The publication’s anniversary marks an exciting time as the Review continues to adapt to an evolving legal landscape.
