Two HCMP Principals Elected to Leadership Positions with Meritas and ACLU of Washington

April 28, 2017  By HCMP Law Offices

Two HCMP principals – George Martin and Amit Ranade – have been elected to significant Board positions with Meritas and the ACLU of Washington, respectively.

George, a named firm partner, has been actively involved in Meritas, a select network of 183 full-service law firms in 242 global markets, for 25 years. Only one law firm from each major metropolitan area is invited to join Meritas, and in Seattle, HCMP is that one firm.

The "reach" of Meritas is broader than any single law firms’, and enables HCMP to have access to high quality law firms in all major business centers around the world and thus better assist its clients with their national and international legal needs with confidence.

Amit’s election to the ACLU of Washington Board marks his return after serving on the Board six years ago, although he has continued to work with the organization as a volunteer attorney. For example, he served on HCMP’s pro bono team that worked with the ACLU of WA to successfully argue Ingersoll v. Arlene’s Flowers, a case that is now being considered by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The ACLU of Washington is one of the ACLU’s largest state affiliates – with more than 30 full-time staff, 50,000 supporters and numerous volunteers, activists, cooperating attorneys, fellows and interns. The ACLU-WA prides itself on addressing cutting-edge issues that affect real people’s lives, often leading the way for the rest of the country with progressive gains such as marijuana legalization and marriage equality.
