Sarah Fries, a law student at the University of Michigan Law School, has been awarded the HCMP First-Year Diversity Student Fellowship and starts working with the firm as a summer associate this week.  The Fellowship includes a salaried summer associate position following the first year of law school, and a stipend to defray tuition and expenses during the student’s second academic year.  First-year students who contribute to the diversity of their law school and the diversity of the legal profession, and are in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school are considered for this position.

Selection criteria include 1) a diverse background and life experiences, and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the diversity of the legal community; 2) a distinction in academic performance, significant accomplishments and activities, and commitment to community service, and 3) leadership ability. 

Over the course of the summer, Sara will have the opportunity to work with attorneys in all four of HCMP’s major practice groups—Business, Financial Services, Real Estate & Land Use, and Litigation.
