A list of useful web sites would be a very long list indeed. We have tried to focus on those sites which we find are the most helpful to clients, and which we use the most frequently.

Land Use & Real Estate Services

• King County Property Research: If you want to look up information about a specific piece of property in King County, go to http://www.metrokc.gov/ddes/property.htm. If you want to search and retrieve the index to King County documents or the documents themselves, go to http://www.metrokc.gov/recelec/records/. These documents include land records, marriage documents, surveys, excise tax affidavits, and general documents filed with the King County Recorder's Office.

• Pierce County Property Research: If you want to look up information about a specific piece of property in Pierce County, go to http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/pc/abtus/ourorg/at/at.htm. You can search by owner name, parcel number, section/township/range to determine the chain of ownership for properties in Pierce County.

• Snohomish County Property Research: If you want to look up information about a specific piece of property in Snohomish County, go to http://web5.co.snohomish.wa.us/propsys/asr-tr-propinq/.

• City and County Web Pages: Nearly every County and City has its own web page. The naming conventions vary. Rather than list them all, we give you samples for certain sites, and the naming conventions for others. For example, the City of Seattle's web site is: http://www.seattle.gov. Their web site was selected as one of the best in the country for local governments, and it contains much helpful information. King County's web page is http://www.metrokc.gov. Other counties typically follow these types of naming conventions: www.co.pierce.wa.us or www.skagitcounty.net.
  For a lookup of all Washington counties go to: http://www.mrsc.org/countyprofiles/profilesmenu.aspx.
  For cities go to: http://www.mrsc.org/cityprofiles/citylist.aspx.The naming conventions for cities are represented by the following samples: www.ci.bellevue.wa.us/ or www.cityoftacoma.org or www.cityofkenmore.com. In addition to the web sites of individual jurisdictions, a wealth of useful information is available on the Municipal Research and Services Center site.

• Vital Records: This site will direct you to the appropriate agency to obtain birth and death records.

• Washington State Department of Revenue: Useful tips and downloadable forms for business owners. Also includes a link to the Unclaimed Property section. Find out if there is money owing to you or your business!

• Washington State County Lookup: Alphabetical listing of Washington counties with websites and links thereto.

• IRS Forms: Access to downloadable IRS forms with instructions.

• Oregon Online: Links to many helpful departments and agencies in the State of Oregon.

• Department of Licensing

• Starting a Business: Guidance for starting a business in Washington State.
• Operating a Business in Washington State: Booklet for printing or downloading, which gives an overview of most of the taxes, registrations, and filing requirements affecting businesses operating in Washington.

• Washington Secretary of State Corporation Search: Searchable database of corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and other entities which register with the Secretary of State. Useful for finding the registered agent of an existing business and for checking name availability.

• Washington State Department of Financial Institutions: Special programs and publications offered to small businesses concerned about raising capital. See especially the downloadable booklet, "Options for Small Business in the Securities Market".

Litigation Services

• Federal Courts: Information for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

• Washington State Courts: Information on court forms, opinions, what prospective jurors can expect, and other items.

• King County Small Claims: For recovery of money only, for an amount up to $2,500, Small Claims court is available. Such matters are often handled by individuals who are not attorneys.

• Washington Small Claims: Information about small claims generally and links to other small claims sites.
