Profile

As a founding member of the firm, I have litigated complex matters since the firm's inception in 1971. I have represented plaintiffs and defendants in a broad spectrum of commercial litigation, including matters relating to contracts, real estate, and product liability claims. I have been lead counsel in over seventy matters tried to judgment or verdict in state and federal courts.

 

Professional Highlights

Lead trial counsel for plaintiff landowner in a jury trial resulting in a seven figure damage award for a regulatory taking.

Lead trial counsel for a defendant in a four month jury trial brought by 250 residents alleging personal injuries, including cancer, by reason of exposure to airborne emissions from a pulp mill. Case settled after verdict.

Lead trial counsel for defendant in a four month jury trial claiming breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation allegedly causing the destruction of businesses in Alaska. Case settled after verdict.

Lead trial counsel for defendants in several product liability jury trials claiming damages by reason of exposure to asbestos containing products.

Lead trial counsel in a two month jury trial of nineteen wrongful death claims arising out of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in Washington state. Case settled after verdicts.

Lead trial counsel in a variety of trials involving real estate issues including condemnations, CERCLA, fraud and misrepresentations.

Admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Washington State Supreme Court, the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the District of Alaska.
