Lender Services

Meet the Team

Our lender services group currently includes about eleven lawyers and paralegals.

Mike Schumacher is the most senior lawyer in our lender services group. Mike heads a group of lawyers who document loans and equity investments made by a real estate subsidiary of a large corporation in many western states, and assists with other clients. Mike has formed several large investment funds, supervises loan documentation and closings for dozens of deals each year, handles loan participations with a group of financial institutions and companies, and is a frequent presenter at our WorkSmart™ breakfast and lunch sessions with our clients. Mike has substantial experience in residential construction loans and equity lending, among other loan types, and has been involved in numerous loan workouts. Mike has a background in litigation and foreclosures, but has been a transactional lawyer in the real estate lending business for the past 15 years. Mike was recently recognized in the Year 2000 Listing of "Superlawyers" in Washington Law & Politics.

Gary Fallon is also a senior partner whose entire career has involved lending. Gary currently works with a number of banks and savings institutions throughout the western states in loan document preparation and design, regulatory compliance, documentation of difficult issues, and loan workouts. Gary spent his early years representing lenders primarily in the foreclosure and bankruptcy context, and continues to supervise a staff of lawyers and paralegals who handle bankruptcies and foreclosures on an ongoing basis. Gary has substantial experience in the full range of construction lending, FNMA lending programs, federal regulations such as RESPA and the Fair Housing Act, and commercial asset-based lending generally. Gary has also assisted our clients in developing a wide-range of consumer lending programs. Gary is active in a variety of mortgage lending associations and is currently an associate director of the Washington Mortgage Lenders Association, and is a past President of the Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association.

David Myre is a senior partner who has a broad and active business practice, some portion of which is always related to real estate and asset-based lending. David often assists Mike and Gary when the deal flow gets heavy, and also services certain clients when they make "out of the box" loans. David handles all kinds of business and real estate transactions, and is highly knowledgeable in tax and estate planning. It's hard to match the breadth of David's experience.

Joe Sakay is a partner whose specialty is in bankruptcies and foreclosures. Joe has worked closely with Gary to develop his expertise in this area since joining the firm and has become an outstanding client resource in this field. Joe receives constant kudos from our clients on his knowledge, creativity, diligence, and responsiveness, and works closely with Mike and Gary on loan workout issues to ensure our clients are in the optimum position in the event a workout or restructuring turns unavoidably sour.

Gabe Rosenthal is a partner who works closely with Mike and Gary, and therefore has broad experience working with all kinds of lenders and under all kinds of lending programs. Gabe has developed a particular expertise with loans made under the Fannie Mae Delegated Underwriting and Servicing Program, and is also heavily involved in forming entities for real estate investment, loan restructurings, and loan participations. Gabe has been recognized by Washington Law & Politics as a "Rising Star" among young lawyers.

Chris Addicott is an associate who works both in the lending and in the real estate areas. Chris also documents a high volume of loans and loan participations, assists in pre-closing due diligence and title work, and assists in advising clients in regulatory matters. Chris is especially familiar with condominium loans, and in addition to his lending work, Chris works with Steve Rovig in our Land Use & Real Estate group in preparing condominium documents for many developers.

Mike Kot is an associate and the newest member of the Lender Services Team. During his first few years in the practice, Mike has had a broad exposure to all aspects of real estate finance with a particular emphasis on residential construction lending.

Tonja Smith is a paralegal with a number of years of experience who assists in the foreclosure and bankruptcy area, with a particular focus on consumer bankruptcies.

Phoebe Ingraham is a paralegal who provides various kinds of assistance in connection with loans and real estate matters, including UCC searches and filings in various states, preparing ancillary documents, assisting in closings, and other services.
